Undecided Question

Its getting warmer where i live now and im absolutely petrified of snakes. Is there something i can do to keep them away. Like if theres a plant i can grow or something. We rent so i cant cut down any of the garden otherwise i would. I also have a small dog so i cant put anything toxic in the yard and im scared for her safety.

Like Newton said, keep the leaves, sticks away from the house. Make sure your long grass is away from the house also. If you have long grass you have snakes. You might want to check to make sure you don't have mice, squirrels, chipmunks, or rats living in your home.

Also make sure you don't have holes that lead to the basement or inside your home, snakes love to hide and you don't need them in the house. Good luck.

There are a few things you can do to keep snakes away. First, make sure there is no place for them to hide, like piles of brush, leaves or rocks. Also, be sure there are no food sources such as mice or such around the property. There is no thing that you can spread around. You just have to be sure there is no reason for the snake to be there, no cover and no food. Food for them is small animals. Cover can be anything laying on the ground. Seeds for birds, or from sunflowers, grass, etc., will attract critters, so keep them out if you can. Good luck.

Something I just thought of, owls are the snakes main competition and are used by farmers to keep down rodents. If there is a way to put up an owl house in the neighborhood, you are that much ahead. And sealing up your house is also something I agree is important.
