Ball python shed and age ?

Ball python shed and age ?
my royal / ball python is just over 2 foot she does not have a wide girth yet and she is about 400g any idea how old she might be ?
also she has some lose wrinkly skin i am pretty sure she is goin in to shed as her eyes have started changing to a sort of blue grey colour and she is refusing food. i have other snakes and they also do this when they are about to shed.

i was wondering will the lose wrinkly skin go once she has shed ??

No one could tell you for sure how old the snake is because they grow at such different rates. They are short heavy bodied snakes so length means nothing really. Because they grow at different rates weight isn't a good judge on age either. I have two males that are about a month apart in age, one is almost 900 grams and the other is 375 grams. They are both 09s but the smaller one was a terrible feeder for months. That's just one extreme example. The 900 gram male of mine is a full year younger than another male of mine who is at the same weight. They really vary if you don't get my point! pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

Anyhow, she's probably around a year old given that she has been eating appropriate sized meals every week and she's a she. It's a tad smaller than my bps would be a year old, but I feed mine kind of heavy.

As for the wrinkly skin that's fairly normal when they are shedding. It's from the space created between their new and old skin. Usually wrinkly skin means they are dehydrated, but when shedding it's nothing major. You may need to raise the humidity next time if she has a bad shed.

I have a ball python care sheet on my site if you want to read through it.
the wrinkles mean it needs more humidity to shed. my corn snake sometimes has shedding problems and gets wrinkly if the shed does not come off the first day it starts to shed. when they shed they usually do not eat, since they can not see where to strike at the food. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

there's no real way to figure out how old it is. they grow at different rates depending on the care they get. 2 foot could be 2 yrs old with good care, or 4 yrs old with bad care/stunted growth.
