Okay, I want to feed my green anole food that comes from the wild because I want to see what it does. Plz. Answer quickly, if i think you're answers beast, i'll become your fan .!!!!
I kept a green anole thru the winter after I found it nearly frozen to death in my tack room. I fed it small crickets no larger than it's head and dusted those with calcium/VitD powder for reptiles. Crickets were fed on cricket gels to make sure they were fully gut loaded with the best nutrition. you will also need UVA/B lights or the lizard will end up with IBD. I had no problem getting the wild anole to take crickets. I tried meal worms as well but she wasn't interested in those. Be aware that anoles are big eaters and can be fed several times a day in small amounts. Do not leave large amounts of crickets in the cage unless you provide them with food/water or they will chew on the anole. I also provided anole food (dehydrated flies) in a bowl. I'm not certain she ever ate any of them but they did disappear. I released her in the spring when it warmed up, but she was fun to have. They are not a lizard you can handle though as they stress easily. Make sure you do some research on these pretty little animals to make sure you provide proper nutrition and lighting to keep it healthy.
Research before you keep, and don't keep what you can't take care for.
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com http://repticzone.com/caresheets/659.htm ... If you can't afford to care for it, hurry and let it go. Hundreds of anoles have died because some stupid redneck thought if he could just put it in a tiny plastic container with grass, dirt, and wild bugs it'll be alright.
I like your cause (if I read it correctly), apparently you want to observe this reptile and learn about its behavior. The best way to do this, is to care for it properly.
