Help please.
I have a leopard gecko she is around 5 yrs old and has lived alone so far. But i think she seems rather bored and lonely and it makes me feel cruel. Also i would like her to breed and think her life will be better if i give her a mate. Is it ok to introduce a male leo and let it live in her vivarium with her at this age??? and how old does the male have to be ???.. only experienced answers please:)
Firstly leos and any other repitle do NOT get bored or lonely if there needs are met there happy. Getting her a mate could leed to MANY problems. She could become egg bound, the male may harass her to mate (which can leed to death ) and there will be bullying. The only time they should come together is to mate thats its. male comes in for a week or so then leaves. Just be sure you realize from one mating you could end up with 15 + babies (ofcourse her first times are all gonna be infertile) 5 years old is consider her prime but after 8 your nto suppose to breed them anymore. the male should be atleast a year. if bred to soon he could end up with a prolapse.
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com She may not take to the male, just so you know, some females are agrssessive and attack males. Shes in no way bored or loney.
