we just got him the lady said she was feeding him a small bag of frozen pinkys once a month just want to know if she was right in feeding him that???? also if you have one of these snakes or know about them and have any info about taking care of them to share that would be great!!!
THANKS
Feeding a snake that size a bag of pinkies is NOT good. He should easily be eating a large mouse or rat pup every 7-10 days. This is an excellent care site:

an adult king snake should be fed adult mice. you should be feeding three to four adult mice every week. let me suggest you feed pre-killed frozen prey. just thaw the mice in hot water before you feed your snake. feeding live prey is dangerous for your snake if the snake get bitten by a rodent you could end up with an infection that could kill your pet. live prey can have parasites that can effect your snake. by feeding frozen then thawed prey you do not have to worry about you animal getting bit or the prey having parasites. freezing the mouse will kill any potential parasites. i have been keeping reptiles for over thirty years and have always fed pre-killed frozen then thawed prey. this way you can buy a dozen at a time and always have feeder mice in the freezer. hope this helps
I always keep a live bate in the cage with mine and they eat it when they are hungry. I feed the bait which us usually a rat or mouse, etc all the time so it is healthy and then the snake eats it when its hungry. That way the snake is hunting for his food like he would in the wild. Also, I have extra large cages for my snakes. I hate to see a snake that cannot even spread out and crawl so I get very large acquariams for mine and they are much happier and live a lot longer. That allows them I put hollow logs and rocks in so that the mouse or rat can have a place to go too and that gives the snake more of a natural challenge for his hunt.
