Hes about 6 months old and every time i want to pet him or pick him up he gapes his mouth and starts hissing and puffs out his beard .. I mean really its starting to piss me off I go to the pet store and the ones they have their are friendly and love to be held .. he eats fine hes got a 50 gal tank, UV bulb, 150w heat lamp, trees, a nice big log that has two levels, a place for him to hide and a water dish. . i even switched over to play sand cuz i was told that the calcium sand is garbage .. what the hell is my bearded dragons problem !?!?
something may be stressing him but i hope u know that there is taming involved . if u just go and try to pick him up hes gunna think ur attacking him. he is still young yet and that is the normal stage of them being young. i have a 3 foot savanna monitor that is a year and 6 months old i got when he was about a foot and a half and 6 months old just like ur dragon i got him from some guy who never touched him so he wasnt used to it he would hiss and piss at me. and not that u dont ever touch him but hes not used to it so what i want u to do is take what ever he eats and use tongs sou can hand feed him but first make sure he or she knows that it is u feeding him do this everyday or time u feed him for about 2 weeks without any attempt to pick him up the whole point of this is something i call will u bite the hand that feeds u. if u dont do this it is possible that he or she can be this mean forever.after those 2 weeks pick him up and bring him out in a secure area that he cant run away and keep handfeeding him but when u feed him make him chase the food up ur legs or any part of u body dont freak out belive me i no its scary but imagine a 3 foot monitor that can rip ur face of haha. but anyway in the matter of those 2 weeks of him in his cage sleep with the same shirt for a couple days without washing and put it in the corner of the tank so he knows ur scent. i did this same thing with my monitor witch they are one of the hardest to tame and he is litterally tame enough to sleep in my bed with me without a worry. he is even bathroom traind so he will only go outside and not in his cage. i no amazing right but u will be amazed what u can do with animals. also when he is out and if he is really paranoid its ok just sit down with him and relax for a little while for him to calm down if he tries to resist dont be afraid to force him a little u wont hurt him i promice show him that ur the boss of him. soon enough he will give up
When did u get him?
