Im thinking of asking for a new reptile for Xmas or my birthday. What should i get that will last from 5 - 10 years? I already have corn snake and ball python
Probably a leopard gecko. They don't require as big as space as most other reptiles do. There's actually not many lizards that can live & be healthy in a 10 gal tank. Frogs can probably fit in there, but they're not as fun & cool as leopard geckos. They actually live for a long time, somewhere from 5 to 10 years like you mentioned. After they grow you might need to upgrade to a 20 gal tank for an adult leopard gecko (I'd suggest you do), but it's okay if you don't . I highly suggest you get a leopard gecko, they make pretty cool pets.
PLEASE do not get a turtle if you intend to use a 10 gallon for the reptile's whole life. Turtles need at least a 100 gallon tank, or secure pond. Ball python should have a minimum of a 40 gallon breeder when they are adults. Get a leopard gecko. They're super cute, always look like they're smiling, and are cheap and easy to feed. They don't mind being handled 1-2 times a week, and don't require UVB lights like turtles. They can live their whole lives in a 10 gallon.
Get a ball python. 60-80 dollars. Ive owned two ball pythons for 4 years and neither one has bit me. they are the most bad *** and docile (friendly) snakes ever. And when you do get bit, it kinda feels like a small shot. My friends corn snake bit me, that's how i know . but do some googling and see if a ball python is for you. They are easy to feed and live up to 20 years!
You should check out Crested Gecko's "Rhacodactylus Ciliatus". Here is a really good site that has all kinds of info on the Crested Gecko:
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com http://www.pangeareptile.com/index.htm Seriously, check it out. I know a lot of people say Leopard Gecko, but the Crested Gecko is so so so so so so so cool. They look a little scary & rough, but if you touch one, you'll feel that they feel almost like suede, their super soft. They are so cool to just look at. Their feet & little toes are cool to check out, as is every other part of them. They are naturally very tame & nice animals. You can hold them & let them just kick it on your shoulder if you want.
They can get stressed out & lose their tail, which will not re-generate like most lizards do. But their just as cute without their tails. Some people call them "Frog Butts" when they lose their tale. They can stick to almost any surface & they can jump like a frog!!
I highly recommend that you look into the Crested Gecko. They are very easy to care for. They don't need any heat lamps or rocks, no special lighting, or anything else most other reptiles need. They just need an environment from 65 - 80 degrees, a little food & water & a depending on where you live, a quick mist with a water bottle every night. That's it. I guarantee you that if you get a Crested Gecko, that you'll be addicted to it & want more. They get about 8-9 inches in length & can live 10-20 years if cared for properly.
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com Good luck with which ever species you do choose :-)
Feel free to send me a message if you have any questions about Crested Gecko's !!!!!
get some type of gecko or small lizard that does not grow too large, Do not get a turtle and keep it in a 10gallon that is not enough space for an aquatic turtle to live in let alone its not even enough for a land turtle
Definitely get a turtle.
Do a little research and see which type fits your lifestyle best.
The small ones are cutest and they are as small as your palm.
They are generally easy to take care of.
