the temperature at the cool side is just below 70f on top of his cave which is on the heat mat and below the heat lamp is 90f and in his cave was 100f is this to warm and if so any ideas whats the best way to keep the right temp?. will he be cool enought on the cool side? just worried incase he cant get cool enough
You tank is very hot, yes. My best advise to you would be purchase an enclosure which was specifically designed for ball pythons rather then trying to convert a fishank. The hot side should be 90, and the cool side around 80. any hotter then 90 and your snake is going to suffer.
100 is too hot. I would never push it past 95, the optimal temp is about 90. If the cool side is 70 that's plenty low for him to cool down. I don't like my cool side to get under 80 preferably, 75 rock bottom. First of all you need to get the temps lowered to 90 and don't let the cool side get any lower than 70. Second you need to get two identical hides, one on the cool side, one on the warm side so he doesn't compromise security for his health. If you have different hides he will chose the one he likes more rather than the one he really needs to stay in.

Hello His warmest area should not pass 95 degrees as it can dehrdrate him and kill him very fast, to a herp even 5 degrees can contrinute to life and death
wow yes 100f is way to high it should be 90-95 on the warm side and 80-85 on the cool side
