hello you can get a mercury vapor bulb and then that covers all the needs except in the PM hours where you can use a heat emitter bulb that doenst have light.
THis will make him happy healthy and waarm.
heat rocks short out, and if it is a lizard-
look at the top of the head, youll see a small hole. It is his pernial eye. this sends messages to the brain as to weahter he is warm wnough. kind of like a thermometer, it is on top not bottom. this is why many get burned and or die as they can nto tell themself opps im warm whough the gland on the top of hte head does that.
You don't provide enough information. How large a tank, what kind of reptile? If it's a snake, it doesn't need uv and a heat rock is innapropriate. I wouldn't even use a heat rock with a lizard. Stick to UV lamp for daytime and heat mats for at night. Either needs to be kept at a reasonable temp with a thermostat.
Heat rocks can burn your lizard. Take it out of your tank!
Just put a heat lamp at one end of the tank and you will be fine.
