how do you put bearded dragons in brumation?

i have a male and a female bearded dragon i am thinking of putting them in brumation and i dont know how to do it. i want to breed them and i heard that if you put them in brumation then they will breed later when they wake up . can you influence them to go into it. PLEASE HELP !!!!!!!!!!!
You are placing a big risk on the life of them if your are not very careful and well educated on this. The yahoo answers isnot that place. Ive done rescue over 20 yrs and can tell you that if you are not very careful, vet c heck and helth clearance then you have no need to do this.

Many people have tried and killed their specimine.

I would recommend not doing it unles you have had a vet check and you are educated very well on roceedure what to look for etc.
Hi Dingo

Firstly may I firstly appologies for the insulting comments previous to mine. They have been reported.

On the subject of Brumation and breeding. First thing fiorst make sure that your beardies especially your female is at an age ie 18months + suitable for breediung. You do not have to brumate you beardies, however it can help with the firtility. This is a simple process. Reduce the temp of your vivs for approx 3 months. Make sure feed your beardies well before hand as they will reduce their intake. As soon as you bring the temp back to normal then you need to get some pinkies for your female. 1 a day for about 3 days dusted in calcium substatute, and as many crickets, locusts and greens you can get down her. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

When you put your couple together put the male in with the female, not the other way round. Put them together for a week only. You will find that the male will wanmt to have a go at the female as much as possible. This is quite a scary thing to see the first time as there is no such thing as love making if you know what I mean.

Being prepared for breeding is important. Take a look at the following web site this will have everything you need to know. Details on breeding, building incubators, looking after your eggs etc etc.

all brumation is, is slightly cooler temperatures, and less food.

if you do this then they will go into brumation.

when i breed my beardies i just take them out of the cage and set them on the floor together.

i dont brumate any of my animals. it does help but as long as your male is bobbing his head and chaseing the female, there is really no point in brumating them.
