Ball pythons are northern African (tropical) pythons which require heat and humidity. They are very docile species. If you decide to get a ball python, remember that an enclosure which was designed for a ball python will be your most important purchase - so choose wisely.
Pretty general question, here's my two cents;
smaller species so generally nice size around children if the snake is tame
constricting species so no fangs but teeth can still make you bleed nicely
Rodent eater
small snake=smaller cage
no need for UVB lights, nocturnal animal
