I bought two hermit crabs and the only heating pad that I can find for under their cage is really expensive!! Would it work if I put one of those heating pads the people use for pain under it? Thanks:)
there are lots of inexpensive under tank heaters. It depends on the size of the tank.
exoterra is a good make. I have one which is approx 1ft X 1ft which i use to aid humidity in one section of my setup. This cost me £ 24 and even though its hot, its energy efficient using only 12 watts.
If you are concerned they may get too hot, you can always get a thermostat, this is an extra cost but it saves you energy etc in the longrun by regulating the temperature.
Most online reptile shops sell heat mats, as well as ebay.
And as others said you could also use a heat bulb above them but make sure it doesnt get them too hot!
I wouldnt recommend it unless its only a temporary solution. An under tank heater is going to be your best bet, but you can always get a heating lamp and a 50-75 watt bulb for it
Just make sure of two things.
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com
1) The pet can't bite or claw at the heating pad. Heating pads of electric wires in them that can kill.
2) The pet doesn't get too warm. This can kill them too.
You shouldn't need a heating pad for a pet worm.
