I have a water turtle that I keep in a tank. Recently, when I went to clean out the filter for the tank, a bunch f black pellets fell out. This is a whisper filter and i got it used so there is no instruction manual . Does anyone know If it is broken, or just cleaned?
Get a new cartridge the black pellets are the activated charcoal used to filter out heavy metals
The black pellets are probably carbon. Is it the Whisper bio wheel filter ? That one uses a replaceable cartridge that you can buy at most pet stores. The previous owner may have left loose carbon or carbon in a bag that broke. If the filter is still sucking up water and pushing it back out, it is not broken . You could also take the filter to a pet store and ask them if you have all the parts.
the charcole pad is broken just replace it with a new one they are not expensive.
