i have recently found mold in my snake tank, is it because its made out of wood? how can i get rid of it?
has it done any harm to the snake (carpet python)
let me suggest a 2% bleach and water solution to clean the enclosure and get rid of the mold. I have no reason to believe there has been any harm to your snake . let me suggest you change the type enclosure to a glass (Plexiglas) tank. wood can hold mold spores and attract wood mites. the mold is growing in a perfect environment, wood and humidity. the bleach solution will work short term, the mold will return just make sure you rinse the cage really well after using the bleach. you should go ahead and bleach everything in the tank, rinse everything you bleach really well, once the bleach smell is gone you should be safe in returning your pet and his cage furniture to the enclosure. hope this helps
