I am a very new breeder and this was my first year breeding. I was very unsuccessful and didnt get any fertile eggs and im not so sure why. I have a male and two female leopard geckos. This season i have only used one of the females because the other was too young to breed. The female i did use (pebbles) had many successful eggs, but non of which appeared to be fertile, and never hatched. I have the right incubator, but earlier in the season, I had a home made one that was too humid and the temp. wasnt constant. Now i have a better setup and i have one egg cooking now. It appears to be infertile. I give my geckos crickets covered in powder (d3 or calcium) every few days and pebbles is heavy enough to breed. For some reason i havent had any eggs small enough to be fertile or hard enough. Is this a calcium issue? or does she just not like my male??
You have a bit more research to do, please dont take that offensively. about 90% of all first time breeders male or females produce infertile eggs. Males are inexperinced and still getting the hang of it as are the females. there are very few that have fertile eggs right away . They'll get it in time just be sure the females the right age and weight as is the male (they run themselves ragged mating/harssing the girls) and they'll get it. Its not calcuim issuses if it were she'd have MBD. If she didnt like the male their have been fights. Neither knew what they were doin. Research, research, research. Even if ya think ya know it all research more. There is ALWAYS tons of new info comin out, fassinationg too ; D
