Hi all i need advice on my herman tortoise, he/she is now 2 yrs and 4 months old, and i have had him since he was a tiny tiny baby and now weighs 205 grams, and every day recently he will not come out of bed to warm up/eat etc unless i get him out and put him under the heat, then he hardly eats by himself, but will if i hand feed him, then he cant wait to get back to bed ... he s been eating great till say the last 2 to 3 weeks, i understand about hibernation but he s 2 young still from what info i can find to read up on to hibernate .... info needed please ..??
Do i keep forcing him to wake and warm up and eat or do i leave him sleep in his bed ..??
Here's the basic care info on Hermans; if the husbandry isn't quite right, acting lethargic as well as other health issues were inevitable from the start. You didn't mention if you have a UVB light and the exact basking temp:
