Can land turtles drown in rain?
I live in Hawaii and it rains a lot in winter my turtle lives outside in my garden. Sometimes the garden gets flooded and he has dug under the dirt and is hybirnating. Can he drown if I leave him there if it floods?
it's best not to risk it he might drown
Quiet possibly. They aren't equipped to hold their breaths under water like pond turtles. The best thing u can do if u can't get to him is to till up the soil. It will cause water to drain faster through the dirt and not pool.
yes
Honestly people...
They don't drown in the rain in the wild, they're not going to drown in the rain in your back yard. They can hold their breath, and they can tell if they're about to be flooded out.
I would dig him up if it floods his area. is there a higher area that doesn't flood that you could move his area to?
