Hi my turtle got an fungus infection on his neck about two months ago. I treated it with beta-dine and fungicide (stuff you put in there water to kill fungus). His neck has healed up well but now when he swims his backside floats !? Also parts of his shell have come off and now his shell is black and when i looked at the fallen off shell, there's kind of a yellowish patch in the middle! there's also little white holes in his shell. I have isolated him and he sleeps in water at night but during the day he is placed in a box with a UV light. what is the difference between a heating light and a UV light?
I think thats all, hope you dont get confused but PLEASE HELP!
His shell is detaching from his body some how, the veins probably cut off from either the meds or the fungus, but the shell is dying. Theres nothing you yourself can do you have to take him to a vet ASAP, if the shell is detaching he could have an open wound under his shell, and since he is floating awkwardly there could be either pus or air under there, either way the only way to correct this if it isnt too far, is to take him to a vet asap and possibly to have the dead shell removed and replaced with a false sort of cap to protect him. Though if too much of the shell is lost he may need to be put down.
Kill it with fire, make soup.
