Is this normal python shedding behaviour?
I have had a spotted python for about a year, now. I got her when she was about 1-2 years old, already. So she's around 3 years old, I believe.
I've never actually watched her shed before, she always hides, or does it when I'm not looking. So I have no idea what they normally would act like before they shed.
Right now she seems to be getting ready to shed. Her skin is much more pale than usual, and her eyes as well.
But she's also been acting strange. She usually sheds in private. However, for the last 4-5 days she has been sitting in one place, by the side of the terrarium, and has not moved at all as far as I have seen. She's still breathing, but she wont move unless I stick my hand in to touch her, and even then she still barely moves, and if she does, she is very shaky.
I fed her 2 defrosted hoppers about a week ago, or less. And she had no problem eating them. I think you are supposed to feed them about once a week, but my python only eats if I feed her every 2 weeks, so I feed her two hoppers every 2 weeks, instead of one hopper a week. Should I just feed her one every two weeks? Maybe it's indigestion, or something that's causing this. I don't know. She has always seemed fine in the past when I've done this method of feeding her, though. So I don't think it has anything to do with the food, unless she got sick from it for some other reason. But it's a possibility that I thought I'd mention.

Usually she's eager to get out, whenever I open the tank lid, and comes right out from wherever she is to see me. She's very energetic, most of the time. But now she doesn't even move when I open it.
Since I have never seen her shed before, I don't know if this is normal or not.
Can someone help me out, and give me some advice on what I should do?
I've never had this problem with a snake before, and I've had a couple snakes in the past. I've never seen them shed though, for some reason. I've just seen the sheddings lying around, afterwards.
shes prob not moving coz when snakes are bout to shed their eyesight is seriously affected preety much blind
It's normal for them to become inactive during the shedding process. But the way you are explaining sounds maybe like something else.
Do you have the humidity high enough for the snake to shed properly?
And is she sitting on her heat at all? If not then it could be because her hot spot is too hot and she is trying to cool off by being on the cool end.
It is perfectly normal for a snake to be dormant when they are about to shed, the way you describe the not moving unless you touch her, the colouring of the skin and eyes, they're all normal. During the last stages, apart from not being able to see very well (which they can't at the best of times) they are very uncomfortable as the skin constricts which is why most people don't handle their snakes until after the shed. Feeding 2 hoppers every two weeks isn't a problem, the only thing I could think of is whether it's warm enough for digestion now that the colder weather is here. The way you described the lid makes me think that you have a glass tank, I am presuming that you have a heat bulb (boids like a hot spot more so than colubrids) which is controlled by a thermostat, with a night time temperature drop. Everything else sounds ok though.

Your snake has picked an area of it's cage that is comfortable with to ride out the shed process. I would not worry. Most of the time snakes will curl up privately in their hides to prepare for shedding. Sometimes there are spots in the cage that are warmer, cooler or, have ground level pockets of higher humidity like next to a water bowl.
