answer:
You probably will need to soak him in a tub of water for an hour or so. Make sure the temperature of the water is around 82-84 degrees. You can then try to rub off the loose skin but do not remove pieces that don't rub off easily. You may have to do this several times for several days to get it all off. He will probably bite you while you are doing this.

To keep this from happening in the future raise the humidity in the snakes enclosure to around 60-70%. You can accomplish this by misting the enclosure and providing a larger water bowl. I provide a container of moist sphagnum moss to animals that can utilize it. Also make sure the snake has access to fresh drinking water. You should purchase a book on burms and further educate yourself as to their care requirements. You can find a variety of books on the subject at amazon.com.
I also use the damp sphagnum moss filled hides and never have shed issues. When you say he has chippings and a piece of bark i hope neither are pine or cedar. Another cause of bad sheds is parasites (internal and external) so it might be a good idea to look for mites and at least check out his poo. Most internal parasites can only be seen by doing a fecal, but there are a few you would be able to see for yourself
do everything that central virginia reptile said. the only thing i would add is if u have a full screen top to cover 2/3 of the top with plastic wrap around shedding time. because when u mist it will keep the humidity in the cage for a long time. so you wont have to mist every hr. i would also go buy a digital temp n humidity gage. if its bigger then a 40 gallon tank i would buy 2 gages for both sides of the tank. also DONT NOT PULL on skin just rub it. if doesnt come off then leave it
