What kind of bulbs can i get for my leopard gecko?
i need two bulbs (one for day and one for night) for my 15 gallon tank. in the day my house is about 74 degrees in the day nd 69-70 degrees in the night. i know that they only need a heat mat in the day but i want a light so the 15 gallon to be a nice 88-90 degrees during the day nd a bulb that can make the tank about 70-73 degrees in the night. i would appreciate if you could add the wattage to each bulb THANKS ALOT: DD

You do not need to keep the tank that warm. The leopard gecko warms up by laying on something warm. Your house temps are just fine. If your house temps drop below 65, then use a 60 watt blue or red bulb for night time heat. They need the UTH mat 24/7 and the temp of the surface should be 88-92F. Measure this with a digital probe thermometer.

Leopards are nocturnal by nature and do not need any special lighting. In fact the lights may disturbed the lizard.

I 've had my nearly 20 years and she has never has any lighting, only a small heat rock in one corner and a nice place to hide. They do not like being exposed.
You do not have to keep the tank real warm either because they are from the desert and they usually rome about at night when the temps drop to quite chilly ranges.
Make sure you get a bulb that emits UVB rays, or your little one will die from calcium loss.

Get a special 100 watt bulb at Petsmart or Petco. They also sell special night -lights that emit very little visible light but lots of heat.
a day an a night bulb u can get it at any pet store.
