Bearded Dragon with Metabolic Bone Diesease! Help?
My beardie has that disease. I have heard it can be reversed, but how? Do I need special lighting or food? Medicine? Should I take her to the vet? Please help. I thought she had genetic problems until I found out about this problem.

Most diseases and such are only treatable in reptiles during the early stages. The majority of people wait until it's too late or never take the animal to the vet.

If you haven't taken it to the vet, what signs is it showing that makes you concerned it has MBD?

Any bearded dragon can get MBD without proper amounts of calcium. If you don't have the proper lighting and supplements then it can very well develop this disease .

First thing's first: Take it to a vet experienced with reptiles. You're everyday vet won't do. It will be more expensive, but that's the cost for getting a person who is well-trained and knowledgeable with this.

Bearded Dragons need 12 hour uva an uvb. also a calcium supplement without D3 is also great for them. Metabolic bone disease is only reversible in its early stages, id take it to a vet to make sure

EDIT: do not listen to the people telling you to use supplements with d3 or solar drops, they do not work and will actually harm your lizard. they can not metabolise pure D3 and nothing can be used as a substitute for UVB lighting.

At first sign your beardie should have seen a vet. What are the signs that make you sasy that is what it is? Enclosure
husbandry

UBV bulbs are needed, proper diets, in some cases if the MBD isn t something that has set in you can PREVENT it from getting worse.
You must consult a vet to see if there are underlying issues

Make sure you have the proper uvb lighting and calcium supplements. Always remember to calcium coat ur beardies food repti vitamins which can be found at ur petstore. Another thing u should use is jurrasi solar drops, its a form of concentrated liquid Dietary cholecalciforal (uvb) and repta aid critical care formula by flukers. But the number one thing is to take ur beardie to the vet. Ps i would check the temps, they may be too low.

To successfully reverse his MBD you should calcium coat his food. You need to get him UVB producing fluorescent lightbulbs, if you already do make sure they are still producing UVB you have to replace them every 6 months try replacing them and see what happens. Also give him herpative, D3 and other suppliments pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

Hope this helps.

you need uvb lighting in the tank, reptisun is the best brand. But take the beardie to the vet and let them check it out.

hope I helped,

good luck
