My kids have 2 red eared slider turtles?
ok we bought them in april 2110 what should i keep them in and how big are they going to get ? they are small now but seem uncomfortable in the small carrier plastic things they are in please help i need help with the care taking of the turtles.
answer: ok don't worry there fine for now they are slow growers but i have two of my own and i keep them in a 55 gallon tank with a waterfall filter and a log and some plants i strongly recoomend you get a pretty large tank and you nned to get like a log or something for them to bask on and a lamp put in about 6 inches of water and they'll be fine
copy and paste this site i have had 3 of these turtles and if you have a small tank they wont grow and will stay small and cute

Also, don't panic when you see the prices of large (55gal) tanks at the pet stores. People are always trying to get rid of old aquariums on Craigslist. Unfortunately, they are of the mindset that their used equipment is worth what they paid for it. Nothing could be further from the truth. No matter what price they have listed, you should be able to get a large aquarium and all equipment (pumps, etc) for $50 to $100. All you have to do is negotiate and call the next persons ad if the first one says no. I've even had friends get fantastic setups for free, just because someone was desperate to get rid of it all.
you will eventually need a pond or something because red eared sliders get up to 12 inches you will also need proper lighting (uva uvb) and a filter and a proper setup with rocks plants and of course water get a 50 gallon rubbermade tub immediately they are like 20$ and will fit the turtles well for a long time have fun.
