I just recently got my first bunny and I want to be sure that I am providing a safe environment for her. She is an indoor bunny and her cage is in our living room for the time being, until we can clear a space for her in the office (the quieter room). My boyfriend is a music teacher and has a band on the side (by no means do they have band practice here), but from time to time they play guitar/sing in the living room. My concern is that this might be too loud for the bunny. Can anyone tell me how sensitive a bunny's hearing is? I understand that they are timid creatures, but I don't want her to be scared or damaged by the music.
Rabbit's have very sensitive hearing, especially with there big ears. If you can still talk to someone over the music where the rabbit is kept, then it should be okay. If you have to raise your voice to be heard you should move your rabbit to a different place. Some rabbits can get scared from loud music and they remember how they get scared (psychological damage in a sense) but other rabbits are totally fine with any noise at all. You can't really tell which rabbit is which unless you experience it. Just watch the rabbit's behavior and maybe keeping a blanket over the cage when the music is being played, kind of like a warning to the rabbit so it can make it a habit and knows when the blanket goes on the music is starting. Then it will not be as scared! Good luck! And I am glad to see an owner who genuinely cares about their pet's well-being.
Bunnies hearing is sensitive. But, it depends on the bunny whether it would stress them out or not. The rabbit i had before the one i have was stressed out very easily with noise and stuff. But the one i have now is very calm and is not bothered by loud noise at all. Just analyze your bunny and see if she is being frightened at all .. and if so then you would want to move her to a quieter location. Too much stress has been known to kill bunnies: (
She should be fine, maybe putting a blanket over the cage will soften the sound but if she has a problem with the noise she will let you know,, she will properly kick off in her cage!!
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com Don't worry if she does this straight away for the first few Min's (that's normal) as she has many senses and felling vibrations is one!
Hope this helps
I wouldn't worry. My rabbits are always in a loud area.If you cover her cage with a blanket or towel, she may eat it! She may kick at first but she should calm down.If she doesn't you may want to move her.
