Does anyone know where I could buy mice?

Quite a few pet shops sell them, but you need to be careful - pet shop mice tend to be terribly unhealthy and are often inbred ... if they are you can expect health problems (cancerous growths etc.) And for them to die young . Cancer and tumours are common in mice and rats especially, but to have every mouse die of them indicates poor breeding. Pet shops which house male and female mice together, or have pregnant or young babies in with adult mice should be avoided.

Private breeders are best. Search for them on the internet, just put in 'mice breeders' or 'mice breeders in [your area].' They might be a bit more expensive than pet shop ones but you will be able to go see and handle them, meet with the parents of the litter and ask about their family history. You'll also get more of a colour selection and, as the mice have probably been handled from a young age, they will be easier for you to handle too .

Mice make great pets, good luck finding some!
