what is wrong with my rabbit?

My rabbit is a girl and she is almost 2 years old now. This just started last night and today too. She is pulling out her fur in winter, she keeps the fur in her mouth, I had to pull some fur out of her mouth and while I was holding her she spit out a big thing of fur. Why is she doing this in winter? Shouldn't she be doing the nesting thing in spring. And she has never been with another bunny before so she isn't pregnant . She also thumps her feet a little bit and makes a growling sound sometimes. Is she stressed? This hasn't happen before. What do I do? Help please ..
Has she been neutered? Unneutered does can go through phantom pregnancies, and when their hormones go mad during such an episode they can get very grumpy! I would get her checked over at a good bunny vets and make sure there's no other medical reasons she could be pulling fur.
Hi,

My rabbits have been doing the same, i found a nest in their bedroom full of hair, and they arnt even pregnant. It is because of the month, they sometimes get confused as to when to pull their hair out, also it could be that your rabbit is having a phantom pregnancy, when she things she is pregnant, but she really isn't, mine had one last week, it is really fine, rabbits do it most of the time.

Good luck

I have only ever had a male, and as said in the other answer shes having a phantom pregnancy, but my male does something kinda like that, right before winter he sheds his head off.

The thumping means shes warning other rabbits to be cautious because somethings near, or maybe shes telling you to back off, wild bunny's thump to warn others to danger and to communicate.

and the growling is really grunting, my bunny does that when he plays with his toys, not sure why they do it, but with him at least is a happy sound. but maybe yours is doing it becouse she may have a slight stomach ache from the phantom pregnancy or something.

hope this helps in some little way!
I'm not entirely sure why she should be keeping the fur in her mouth, I can only think she might be carrying it to a place where she is secretly building a nest. Sometimes female rabbits randomly think they are pregnant, even if there is no cause at all for them to believe this.

Rabbits thump their back legs when they are scared or feel threatened, to warn others around them of the danger. They also growl softly to threaten others, perhaps if they are scared or just angry - this sometimes happens just before they bite you so try and stay out of her way when she is growling.

Don't worry, it dosen't sound like she is unwell, just possibly confused.
