my pony pulled his leg in the snow hes only a felabella and he walked on it the 1st day but now he cant put it to the floor im very worried the vet give me bute and told me to rest him for 10 days then he, ll see him again
It sounds like it is just a strain. Even if a bad one at that. We had something similar happen to our horse though. We ended up retiring him to trail riding because he completely screwed up his shoulder. He didn't break anything though. It is really hard to tell if it is a fracture or break unless you get ex rays. I would ask your vet to get an ex ray if you are still very worried about it. Sometimes stress fractures can occur several days after the initial injury. If your vet is going to come out and look at him again then I wouldn't worry too much. Just try to make him comfortable and keep him off his leg. You don't want to damage it further. One other thing that you could do if you are really, really worried is run your hand down the leg. If there is a lot of swelling you should be able to feel it. If you squeeze just a little and run your hand down you should be able to tell exactly where it hurts him/her. You should also be able to tell if there is a large break in there. There will be a feeling of something hard protruding. If you are not sure if it is out of place or not, do the same thing on another leg that you know is fine. I hope that helps, and I hope that your pony is ok ...:)
He walked on it? Then it got sore and he can 't bear any weight on it. I am surprised the vet didn't wrap it tightly. Most likely just a strain, If your vet thought it was broke, he would recommend putting the animal down. So it's most likely a strained leg. Did you take him to the Vets clinic? If so did he xray the leg. If that's the case, your pony will be just fine.
have vet x-ray the leg and you will feel better to know what is the problem with it
