Why would one chose a Dog instead of a Cat for a personal co

What are the positives and negatives that you could offer for Dogs, and Cats?
That's easy. A dog has personality! No, really, you can talk to a dog and it will listen to every word you say (at least, it looks interested and tries to understand what you are trying to say). A dog won't hold it against you if you're in a bad mood and shout at him/her - two minutes later it will still be by your side, adoring you. A dog will give its life for you. And its nice to hug a big dog.

Cats are cuddly, sure, but they couldn't care less if you're feeling down.

To summarise, here's a quote I heard once that's so true: "Dogs have owners, cats have staff":-D
There are pros and cons for both, and it all depends on what YOU prefer. I personally like them both!

Dogs

Pros-

You can take them on walks and teach them tricks

they will always be your loving companion

they know when your down

Cons-

Its near inposable to train your dog to go in a litterbox, and potty training is the next best thing pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

if its a fluffy dog, its will shead, do your homework on what breed you want to get

they are often loud, barking, howling, jumping up on guests ...

bathing

high energy (for some breeds

now for cats

Pro-

No need to take them on walks

they are not over energetic

they need no bath (they clean themselves)

they are litter box trained

Simply they eat less

Cons-

They care how you feel and will try to be friendly when your down, but not like a dog

They can shead as well

you cant really teach them tricks

those sharp little claws

and also, much like said before, a dog will do what you say with no question and you are its owner, cats look at you as if your crazy when you say fetch, and they own YOU.

in short, cats are easier to take care of as dogs, but dogs are more people orientated. one is not better then the other
Cats are very needy creatures depending on what breed they are and/or how they where raised. I highly surgest adopting an older cat from a shelter. Kittens are very needy and without the right training can grow up with unwanted quallities. Cats always come up to you and rub them selves agents you like they need you. They are wonderfull wonderful creatures. Though they may not play tricks, or stare at you wide eyed when you call their name, if it's a companion for life your looking for a cat is the way to go. Especially if you live alone and work.

A dog is great too. But many of the time those puppies you see in the pet store have been subjected to puppy miles and end up growing up with odd traits, and possibly be dangerous. They are wonderful too. They respond to their name and play tricks and will always protect you. But they are also very unpredictable in how they will act. They could be a constantly calm dog, a constantly hyper one, or just one that has just no use in you. They also take a lot of work and it's very difficult to leave home. They could also howl and bark all night while you are away and bring unwanted attention from your neighbors.
In my opinion:

cats sleep literally about 16 hours a day, and don't let you play with them if they're not in the mood, and they're not afraid to use their claws. BUT, they are super cute when they cuddle up on the couch and stuff, plus they're easy to take care of.

Dogs need more attention because they usually love playing and once they start to get used to you they'll attach themselves to you at the hip. But they are mostly respectful to their owners and very sensitive in the way that they can usually tell if you are upset with them or sad, and they'll usually try to cooperate with you depending on your mood.

But that's all from my experience, i've only had big dogs and im not really sure if smaller dogs act differently.

Cats and dogs can become really close to each other when you get them together while they are young. So i would say get one of each like i did:)

Hope i helped:)

Jess.
People are more commonly allergic to cats than dogs. Yes, some are allergic but less than that of cats. I'm allergic to cats not dogs. I think cats are adorable little things but the thought of it pooping in my house in horrible even if it is in a box. Then it scratches around the poop and pee then licks its paws and touches me. If I had a cat I'd feel I was constantly covered in fecal matter and urine. Cats and Dogs both shed. Dogs need baths and nails trimmed whereas cats do that themselves. Dogs can learn tricks, cats really can't. Dogs are companions as well as guardians, i don't think anyone fears breaking in a house because of a house cat . LOL

There's pros and cons for both but I prefer dogs because
