She lives in my bedroom in a nice big cage, but I live in Utah, and my room gets really hot during summer, and really cold during winter. So in summer should I put a fan in front of her cage? And extra cold water ? And in winter should I just put down more hay? And maybe some warm milk in her water bottle?
Summer - Offer her a bottle of water that's been put in the freezer; lay it in the cage for her to lie next to. You can also mist her ears (the blood flowing through the veins in the ears is how rabbits cool off, like a dog panting). Don't soak her, just mist the ears.
Winter - Rabbits tolerate cold much better than heat; if the room is an ok temp for you, it'll be fine for the rabbit. Never give the rabbit milk in her water bottle!! You could make her very ill. Normal temp water is fine.
In the summer I used to freeze a milk jug full of water, and then put it in the kennel for her to snuggle up to. Becuase it was so big, it stayed frozen all through the hottest parts of the day.
yes do that, but don't put the fan directly on her.
