Yo junko here, i think i might be getting a pet soon, so i would like to know what pet is suitable for me: D
Im 12, living in an apartment with my folks and sis.
I have 2 hermit crabs, 2 parrots and some fishes.
I would like to get another fluffy companion to keep me company.
I was thinking of getting a bunny, should i get one?
PS: Yes, all my pets are in good care!:)
A bunny would be a good pet, I took a big liking to chinchillas. Their a big fluff ball of fun! Good luck!
Depending on the size of the apartment .. You may not have the room for a bunny. Especially once you consider that they need fairly large cage (as in wide, taking up more floor space), and need a decent "play" area when you take them out. A lot of people I know set up whole rooms to let their bunny live and play in. Of course, this isn't necessary .. But I would still be concerned about space, depending upon the size of the apartment.
Have you ever considered, researched, or looked at rats? Most people's first reaction is, "gross" .. But they are far from gross. I've had tons of pets over the years, and rats have been one of the best ones, next to my dogs.

They need large cages .. But the cages can be tall, rather than wide, making it easier to fit in a corner of a smaller space. They also don't need as much time out of the cage, if you happen to find yourself busy. They should be handled daily. Males for at least an hour. Females for at least two. And they MUST be kept in pairs.
Rats are highly intelligent. Smarter than other rodents, and pretty much all small fuzzy things. They have the capability to be litter trained, learn their names, and even be taught several tricks/commands. They are very dog like in that aspect .. And in the fact that they bond to their owners much like dogs do.
They are also clean animals, despite all the myths out there about them being dirty .. That is not true. In fact, rats spend the majority of their time cleaning themselves. Males are a bit dirtier, because they tend to "mark" things. But this behavior tends to lessen over time with work and litter training.

You might even be able to get a dog or cat, depending on rules. My friend has 2 medium size dogs in an apartment.

A chinchilla requires a TON of care. Stick with bunny. But remember, those things stink and chew. I have never understood rodents ...
BUnnny or a chinchilla i would say for you to get.
A snauzer you loco!!
Try something smaller than a rabbit, which would be happier with an outdoor play area too, and needs a big cage.
Rats and mice are easy to tame, very intelligent, and can be taught all sorts of tricks. Rats obviously need a much bigger cage, although with mice the bigger the cage the better. Make sure the space between the bars of the cage is 1cm or less for mice, otherwise there's the chance they could escape. I kept and bred mice for a number of years, and they remain to this day my favourite type of rodent to keep. Cute, inquisitive, intelligent, and love to be handled - fantastic pets! Mice and rats must be housed in a pair or more, they love company of their kind.
Gerbils? They can be tamed, although not as easily as mice. They need a cage with a deep tray so they can have at least 6 inches of sawdust in there; gerbils are desert animals and live to dig. It's awesome to watch them dig tunnels and move through them. They can live for about 3-5 years too, substantially longer than rats or mice. A gerbilarium (

Because they are desert animals their urine doesn't smell, meaning a large cage containing two gerbils will probably only need cleaning out once every few months or so.

Hamsters? You can have a Syrian hamster which has to live on its own (and they can be quite grumpy and quick to bite), or get one of the Dwarf varieties. My favourite type of hamster is the Chinese Dwarf Hamster, I have never been bitten by a Chinese hamster, they are easy to tame, and are smaller than a Syrian so require a smaller cage. Chinese and Syrian hamsters should be housed on their own, Russian and Robo hamsters can live in pairs or groups, if done carefully
Hope I helped and you manage to find the right pet:)
I think a guinea pig:)
