i found a cat around my house about a year ago and every day since then hes been like my pet. he could be called feral but he is very lovable and lets me pick him up and cuddle him. hes never bitten and is nueterd. he comes in my house for maybe an hour a day but loves roaming outside. i feed him.
however i got a letter from the condominium association i live in saying i have a hearing in court for fines of having a "loose pet". i called the front office and they said that i either need to have him inside 100% of the time or animal services is going to catch him and take him away. what do I do? i could try keeping him inside but idk how that would work out. also he only loves me. every time a neighbor comes over he gets skiddish and weary so i dont think he'd work out in another home.
can anyone brainstorm and give me some ideas as to what i can do with him or how to get him comfy with living indoors?
hes already very comfortable in my house but i dont know about long term.

he really is a good kitty. i dont want to see him go.
Bring the cat in your home full time and do it quickly. Animal control will not even try to put a feral cat up for adoption, they already have a hard time placing tame domesticated cats. If this cat is picked up by animal control it is a sure death sentence. It will adapt well in time to being an indoor cat ... I know because I also have a cat that appeared in our yard one day as a feral kitten. She is a delightful pet but it took some time and a lot of love which you sound like you have plenty of. Take him in today, you will save his life.
You may want to keep him in a bedroom full time for a few weeks to help him adjust to a small area so he can get used to being confined and not rushing the door to get outside. We did that with our feral and it helped a lot. After about a month, let him have the run of the house. Good luck and God bless you for giving this poor cat a chance.
my friend has a cat that she found in the wild and brought her in. i 've been going & visiting her for two years and the cat (Magi) still runs & hides. just bring the cat in your home and love it. it'll be okay.
If he is comfortable in your house then it's OK to keep him but if he is unhappy then you need to find a way for him to have fresh air.:)
Well first of all cats are extremely easy to keep as pets inside. They automatically know how to use a litterbox so that's good to go and as far as you keeping him and making him feel like he's in a good home youve already showed that by keeping him and careing for him! He likes you bc he won't go to anybody else .. . So you shouldnt worry and just take good care of him & a good trip to the Veternarian so he can get a clean bill of health would be great also:)
