hey, i want to get a bunny. and i know they are a lot of responsibility. but thats why im asking this question, so i have more information before i get one.
what do they need to eat?
bedding?
cage? size?
do they smell?
need lots of exersize?
etc. any other information on bunnies would be great and very well apreciated:)
thanks for your help!:)
I would get a female because they don't smell as much. They need a lot of space and exercise and no matter what you hear they need to be kept inside!! The main diet should be timothy hay and natural greens. If you feed them grass then make sure it hasn't been sprayed with pesticides. They also need pellets which you can find at almost any pet store. Rabbits are a lot of responsibility. If you are positive that you have enough time and motivation to care for a rabbit than they make great pets!
Rabbits need good quality pellets and as much hay as they want to be healthy. Small amounts of vegetables are ok but not before 4 months of age. Rabbits are easily susceptible to enteritis - an inflammation of the digestive tract, where the good bacterial balance in the gut is thrown off. This can escalate to death of the bunny.

Aspen shavings make good bedding and if you use a corner litter pan, you can just put the shavings in that. I wouldn't recommend using any blankets or fleece, as a rabbit will chew and possibly swallow it, causing a possible impaction in its gut.
As large a cage as you have room for and can afford - minimum 4x the size of the bunny.
They will exercise themselves and enjoy getting out of the cage for a good romp, always supervised, of course. There's more care info on my website.
Ok their are a lot of things you will need so i will help as much as i can
all rabbits eat rabbit food their are many kinds of food but any kind of rabbit food will do i feed all my rabbits pro mana rabbit feed.
bedding you can use a lot of different things but wood shavings is a popular bedding NO SEDAR it could jive them breathing problem.
the cage size depends on the rabbit you get most of the time a 24by 24 will do just fine.

They need to have hay and you should give your bunny fresh water every day
The cage should not be too small
If you do not clean the cage once every week yes it will smell
Yes you should let them out often and let them run around for their exercise
There are leashes for bunnies that you use when you let them out and you should get it because bunnies are really fast and you might have a hard time catching yours if you let them out
They should not be in extremely cold or hot temperatures but they prefer cold rather than heat

You should get some toys for your bunny so they aren't bored all day or at least when no ones playing with them
Hope this helps!
Eating can be many variates ask your local pet shop about that and im sure they can find something perfect for you! Bedding? Hmm that's a tricky one. Maybe just a small little pillow in the corner of your large sized cage! They do smell but that's what baths are for right ?!!!? Also bunnies they need there exercises ask your local pet shop and see if they have maybe a wheel or something to keep them happy and healthy.:)
A rabbits diet should be mostly hay. Young rabbits (under 6-8 months) can have alfalfa, but adults should be limited to grass hay like Timothy, brome or orchard grass. Hay should be avaliable at all times. Pellets should be limited based on the weight of the rabbit, how it is housed and the purpose of the rabbit. For most pets, about 1/4 cup per 5 pounds of body weight is enough. Choose a pellet that is just pellets, not extra bits. It should have about 14-16% protein and 18% or more fibre. There are many suitable brands of pellets avaliable. You can feed veggies, but you need to introduce them slowly and it would be best to wait until the rabbit is at least 3 months before starting to introduce veggies. Rabbits also need fresh water avaliable at all times. A water bottle can be used, but rabbits tend to drink more from a bowl.
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com If you have a litter trained rabbit, you do not need to have litter in the whole cage. A fleece blanket will work for softness and traction. In the litter box, you need something absorbent and not too expensive. Wood pellets are a cheap and effective litter, you can get a 40 pound bag for about $ 6 at a feed store. Do not use pine or cedar shavings as they contain harmful oils that can cause respiratory problems in small animals.
