What should happen when a mother rabbit mate with her own child?
Just recently, the mother rabbit gave birth to 6 dead kits.

You see... I have 3 rabbits. I put the husband rabbit in it's own cage and the mother and child together in another cage. So this eliminates the chances of husband mating with wife. Anyways... now i have 6 dead kits. Is it possible for a mother to mate with her own child?

If so, what would the baby look like? will they look deform? also, would they be born stillborn or dead? or would it be alive?
Maybe deform or with defects. Genes need to mix with very different genes to create stronger offsprings. In this case, its bad.
Yea it's possible but really unlikely to happen in the animal world. There would probably be all sorts of genetic abnormalities, and the baby bunny would probably have lots of extra needs that would be unrealistic to keep met. Thus the baby would have to be euthanized. But any of those scenarios are possible. Deformities, stillbirths, and alive but not thriving. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

But at this point it would be impossible given that the babies are all dead...
Incest is cool and all but you should put it in a cage with a bird or lizard. that would be cool offspring.
Yes, the mother can mate with her own child. Most likely there will be deformities and death is very common.
I run a rabbit rescue and have studies these animals for almost 10 years. Rabbits do not care if they are related. They will mate with anyone they see fit. Fathers will also kill their sons for dominance. Some animals, such as guinea pigs, will be fine mating with relatives. Rabbits are not the case there.

Breeding two rabbits with similar DNA will make it more likely for ressessive traits to come out (a ressessive trait needs 2 ressessive genes to be show [rr] unlike a dominant gene that will show with only one gene [RR] or [Rr] having two animals of the same family makes an [rr] combination more likely) These effects can be good or bad and can range from coat color to serious deformaties. Mother rabbits often kill or push away deformed babies becuase she knows they will not survive.

If your rabbit has mated with her son make sure she is pregnant. Rabbits do not always get pregnant and can experience a false pregnancy which means they think and act pregnant but they are not and will get over the feeling in about a month when she should have babies but wont. If she is pregnant, have a good rabbit vet on hand in case of an emergency.

When the babies are born it is ok to touch them just dont do it too often, once or twice a day is good. Take out any dead ones because deformaties can end in a stillbirth. Stillbirths and death shortly after delivery can happen in healthy babies too. sometimes even the entire litter. If any are deformed you can either take them out and humanely kill them, take them to a vet, or let mom handle it herself. Any that have problems you cannot see after birth will show up within the next few weeks or months. Most will probably be perfectly fine and healthy rabbits. Just find them good homes and get the whole family spayed and neutered to prevent this from happening again.
