I had pet chickens, and I didn't know you weren't allowed to have pet chickens in our city until it was too late.
2008, January=
I got my pet chickens! As chicks! They are so cute! I absolutely love them! I am so happy, Im going to be able to wash them and play with them and not be bored! Im already bonding with them and I think they like me. if we go "gawk-gawk" they come to our hand. So obediant! chickens usually live 13 years...so excited! 2 Roosters and 4 hens!
2008, August =
one of the roosters went missing! probably got eaten by one of the hawks flying overhead...
2009, January= 1st birthday! We celebrate by giving them delicious food! :D
2009, September=
Today when i walk home from school, i see a police notice on the door.

It said that you weren't allowed to have chickens unless they were living 30 meters away from the border of your house on all sides. We had 1 month to get rid of them or they would die. The noise level of crowing is also unacceptable it had said from the roosters.
2009, December =
We gave them to my aunt, and shes going to keep them! They will live! happy!!! :D
2010, January=
We gave my aunt my rooster but it died. It had no home and got sick. I cry.
2010, Febuarary=
My aunt's husband came back from a buisness trip. he doesn't want chickens in his backyard. he gives them back. we are stuck again. we need to get rid of them. my dad wants to kill them and eat them, but i say no and protect them.
2010, March=
I gave them to my friend in a neighborhood next to me! She said she will take care of them well. i can visit them anytime i want!
2010, August=
2 out of the 4 chickens i gave them died. 1 from dies dieases. other dies from raccoon.
2010, november=
1 more dies from bird. my fav chicken died

2011, January= 1 left at my friends house. extremely sad and crying very often.

How do I cope with this? I wish I never bought those chickens. 1 left, all lonely. everytime i look at their pictures i cry a lot. I need help to cope! Im really really sad!!! Its their 3rd birthday!! and only 1 is alive to live their 3 years of life. Before they went to aunt and friends hosue, they were so happy, and knew tricks like "back away" "sit down" like a dog. they are much more friendly then they think, and much cheaper then a dog. Stupid city laws! I need help to cope. Please tell me how Im supposed to live my life without wanting to cry!!!!

They are dead.. what can you do? NOTHINNGG.. you have to get ova it. and have a punch on with the police

=( I'm really sorry about this. I know you must be feeling totally horrible. I had a similar experience with an animal. I got it when I was too young to realize I had no idea how to care for it and I really crashed and burned.

A lot of people push really hard about doing tons of research when getting new animals, and this is why. You kind of just have to tell yourself that you made a mistake and you're going to learn from it... Just do your best to pick up and move on.

So sad for you! Any animals are great friends and chickens are no exception plus they provide us with eggs. All the regulations we have to live with now suck! Start a campaign with neighborhood support. I am serious. We are so over-regulated "for our own protection" it is rediculous. We the people are what runs this country. That is so sad and touching! I used to have pet chickens too. But they were in my ranch couple miles away from my house so it wasn't illegal. I know how you feel. Since I got those chickens since they were baby chicks I quickly bonded with them . I think it might sound weird for some people that we can bond with chickens but they are quite lovable aren't they. I think you should try to cope with it by knowing that your chickens could be in a better place! Who knows, there might be chicken heaven. It took me a long time to get over my pet chickens that died but I knew that they wouldn't have lived forever anyways and letting them go a little bit earlier wasn't too bad. I hope you feel better soon and remember you're not alone. I know some day you'll have another pet that you'll love !
