I have a cat and a dog that are friends,but I want a third pet,what's a good pet?I have a backyard,and my house is medium-sized.What should I get?

How about a lizard or small snake!

What about a rabbit or ferret? Those can be good pets.

Try a dog that's the opposite gender than your original dog. Small pets are good, but the cat may hurt them.

Should get some freshwater fish, but it's a big responsibility

Well depends on what your house is like! here are some small, medium, and large pets to consider

Small
Hamster- easy to take care of, fun to watch
Lives 2-3 years
Gerbil- smells less then a hamster, fun to watch and take care of pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com
Lives 2-4 years
Mouse- Easy to take care of, fun to watch

Degu- Like a big gerbil, requres a larger cage, and counts as a exotic pet (not sold in pet stores often)
About 5-10 years
Parakeet- Easy to take care of, and fun pets, but do chirp a lot (wonder why lol)

Sugar gliders- They bond with there owners and will go everywhere with you, and they can glide. More often then not, your cat/dog will not hunt it, becouse it smells like a kangaroo, not prey (they are marsupials)

Medium pets
Chinchilla- easy to take care of pets, stink less then most pets, and are the softest thing you will even touch, but dont get them wet

Guinea pig- Loves attention, and depending on the guinea pig, can be low matenice(male or female)
Lives about 7 years
Rabbit- Fun loving and soft, they love to explore, but dont like being held most often. can be litterbox trained and run free around your house, but dont do it if you have dogs or cats pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

Ferret- Can run around your house when litterbox trained, but beware... it CAN kill your cat, and they have a musky odor

Perrot- Can learn to talk, and also are allowed to fly around there cage often, but they are birds, and your cat/dog may think of them as a tasty snack!
Not sure how long it lives, depends on the breed
Rats- Really smart and loving pets, they are more clean then almost any pet (1/3 of there day cleaning) and are low matenice

Large pets
Cababeras- Like 4 foot guinea pigs, can and are often trained to walk like a dog, and are pretty low matenice pets considering there size, your cats not going to take on this rodent! but they only go bathroom in water, so have a small swimming pool, and you will have to pay a hefty penny for one of these
