A squirrel fell in our frigid swimming pool...and I need animal emergency advise!?
He is in a shoebox resting at the moment....I warmed him up and he was completely exhausted...I've given him some warm milk on the edge of my fingertip...and now I'm giving him some time to rest...he must have been trying to survive for some time...he was about ready to give up before I scooped him out with a plastic rake....any advise on what to do next? Thanks for your help!
answer:
take the squirrel to a vet and have him checked because you wouldn't want to do anything that could hurt the squirrel now would you?
but aren't squirrels supposed to be hibernating right about now?
i hope he/she doesn't get sick!
btw, is their fur really as soft as it looks? just curious. :)
You've done good, keeping him warm. He may also be dehydrated, and hungry. (it takes huge energy to deal with cold water, and panic) It's best to take him to a wild animal rehabilitation centre, where they will ensure all is well before they release him again. Some centres will let you participate in his release, especially since you saved him in the first place.

He will escape the shoe box at some point, best to get him to a rehabber as quickly as you can, before he realizes that he is trapped. He will become a little Tasmanian devil when that happens!! He may have fleas, or mites, and can bite REAL hard. Be cautious with him, and don't be too upset that he shows no appreciation for your efforts. :)

volunteer in wild animal hospital, hand raise orphaned squirrels for release.
Oh my goodness poor thing! Call an animal rescue place. is it a big or small squirell? Sry i spelled it wrong. If its big it mite start trying to run around once its better...sry im not familiar with squirell care..but what ur doing so far is good!
Yeah, read him a story. Get some warm milk so he feels comfortable. Sit by the fire and play some low music. The last thing anyone would want is one less squirrel in the world.
