Well, here in Australia I've always put mudskippers in the terrestrial section of a 2 in 1 habitat. They swim into the water to get the crickets I toss in, and will sometimes swim under the driftwood piece, but more often than not they stay on the moist ground or on the high leaves of plants above the water line. If you could import something similar, it would do great!
For the record, they're $ 75 dollars here, so I reckon you'd pay something close to a third of that price in America. You might even find a local version of those mudskippers that looks cool and won't require special care. Hope that helps you out!
