Just bought a mouse from the pet store and OF COURSE shes pregnant. What foods can I feed her that will give her and the babies more nourishment? I just buy the regular mice food pellets right now but I read you can give them cat food for nutrients .. Im not sure about that ...
First things first, if they're living together comfortably at the moment (that is, not fighting, squabbling, competing for food or shelter) than you can leave them together for the full duration of the pregnancy and they will raise the babies together.
As for feeding them nutritious foods to make sure the babies are well looked after, you can offer them dog food, cat food, sunflower seeds (just not too many), pine nuts (the best for protein!), Bird seed mix, and simple household things like bread or cooked veggies. When the babies are born, the mother will make great use of sunflower seeds for the fat content, and it will help keep the pups chubby even if there's heaps of babies. Pine nuts are great, just expensive. When it comes time to wean them, use wet canned dog or cat food, plus you can offer milk or cream soaked bread to encourage the youngsters to start eating their own solid food. Regards,
