Okay so here it is. Every dog i have had, my stepdad hates, and gets rid of them, i HATE it. But i can't do anything. Now, i really want a pet and i don't know what else to do!): And i REALLY need a pet, you might not understand how much ..... So please, Give me ideas, convincing statements, anything, please. Also, what pets are easy and reasonable? Oh and clean (:
It is really unfair to an animal to be safe and cared for in someone's home, then end up alone and possibly euthanized at a shelter. It would be irresponsible for you to get a pet that will end up homeless by your stepdad.
Try asking him why he doesn't like the dogs you've had in the past. Is it the breed, the personality, the time committment, etc ... There are always ways to compromise. You can walk and feed the dog if he doesn't want to do it. You can get the dog training classes if he is unhappy with the behavior. You can also compromise on the size of the dog if he is unhappy with the mess a larger dog can make.
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com Ask him what pet he would be okay with you having. A small animal that lives in a cage is much less expensive and way easier to care for than a dog. If you just want a furry companion, look at dwarf rabbits and hamsters. Even a cat would be happy living in your room, if your family didn't want it all over the house.
Don't sneak a pet home. Parents will ALWAYS find out, there is no way to hide the smell or noise, and it's unfair to lock the pet away somewhere to hide it. And it is so irresponsible to get a pet knowing you will have to give it up.
I have the same problem, you just have this craving and empty spot that needs to be filled, mines actually for a baby but pets fill it too cos im only 15:) anyways a really good pet for you would be a leopard gecko, they are cheap live in small tanks and dont require the expensive heating lights. they're 'the ultimate beginner pet' so if you are on vacation or something and obviously cant call a sitter just give em some extra food and hes fine:) personally im on the look for a blue tongue skink, they require very large cages but if u hear of one email me k? petite_chienne1@hotmail.com
Don't bother seeking them in. All good parents do find out.
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com As I was growing up we I always got a new hamster every year. (All mine died from cancer and other illnesses within their first year)
When I became 10 I didn't want another hamster - it was getting soooo boring.
I waited a few years, then when I was 15 I asked that for my birthday I wanted two ferrets. So they had company when I was not around.
My parents are laid back so said yes, but when I was old enough to work I had to pay for them out of my own money.
Now I'm 17 and working as an Animal Nursing Assistant, as well as studying to be a vet in ferrets. I now have 6 ferrets that I care for. Along with two dogs.
The thing is, if you promise to pay when you start working, they normally say fine. Do ask though, why your step dad doesn't allow you to keep pets. Maybe there are some things you're not seeing? He's scared? Doesn't like animals? Too costly? It could be anything.

Well hun, I bought a hedgehog when this happened with my parents lol. TThey don't smell, very easy to care for, and don't make noise. My parents never come in my room so they didn't notice the cage in my closet. Which is fine for him to be in, because they're nocturnal. so during the day he was in my closet asleep, I would leave the door open to let in light so he knew it was daytime. then at night when hedgehog's are active, i would take him out and play with him, my parents being in their room asleep or watching tv never knew. you can also wake them up during the day for short periods to play with them. i may have lost some sleep , but it was worth it!!
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com After several months, i eased it onto my mom first (as my dad is also the one to get rid of pets.) My mom is softer, so it didnt take much to convince her to let me keep it. I mean i've had it this long and they never knew and it caused no problem, so what's the difference now if they know? its not like they'll have anything to do with it now that they know.
with her help, and after my dad met piglet, i was allowed to keep him!!
now that i'm a bit older (19) i just kinda bring pets home and they've given up trying to stop me.
goooood luck !!!!
Getting a pet without your parents consent IS A TERRIBLE IDEA.
A small dog/cat will suffer being only in one room. When will you walk it? Small dogs defecate often, and all dogs shed, plus there is that doggy smell.
Plus ... every animal leaves behind some smell. Where would you keep your gerbil; under your bed?
Try getting a fish. They aren't the most ... stimulating pets, but parents often agree to them.
What I did to get my wii is I wrote a little report give facts about the pet or say how every day before school you will feed him brake-fast and before dinner you will feed him dinner. and say if we didn't have animals they would be instinct.
