my 6 week old rabbit needs to gain weight, how can i help hi

He looks so small and bony, but he has unlimited food and water and hay. A lot of people say not to give them fresh veggies but he got hold of a baby carrot the other day and he scoffed the lot and his droppings were fine.

Just want some help on how to help him fatten up, i don't want him to get ill.

Help?
When you want a small animal to gain some weight, alfalfa hay is your best bet. It's my go to solution when I need to bring rescue animals back to health. As a basic hay, offering it on top of the food dish it's usually devoured as soon as possible, and then as a food block it takes a while for them to eat and keeps them busy. You could also stick with alfalfa pellets, which always seem popular with my rabbits.

Fresh veggies like carrots and dark greens can make a difference, but I'd still use them as diet supplements rather than a staple. Keep in mind that wild rabbits have to eat pretty much non-stop, and that as they grow, the energy is spent on growth rather than converted to bulk. I say keep up with his regular diet but add heaps of alfalfa hay, and some supplementation with fresh veggies on the side. That ought to slowly build up his mass, while making sure he's got heaps of fuel for growth without digestive consequences. Regards,
You should have a local Co-Op and they should have a high protein bunny pellet. Also, don't give him lettuce, it had no nutritional value to it. veggies are good. But less hay. Buy some loose alfalfa and give him a little each day. also add a little molasses on some pellets and see if he likes it. The Co-op should have a molasses mixture for large animals you can use. It will have vitamins in it. I have raised tons of bunnies. Oh, try some plain dog biscuits and dog bones. they give calcium and help keep the teeth properly ground down.
veg's are fine they are a sweet treat for rabbits and they are healthy they aren't bad unless you give them to many. but you can give it some hay and that will help it but they really don't start gaining weight un till they are a little older he will not get sick from veges as long as you don't keep giving it to him and watch what you give him you should be fine make Shure he has lots of water that will help a lot to he should start gaining weight when he is about 4 or 5 months my babies do that all the time i feed them all they can eat and give them lots and lots of water and after a little the start adding on weight. hope this help!
Just feed him unlimited alfalfa based pellets (oxbow is the best) unlimited hay and start introducing veggies. Rabbits need at least 2 cups of veggies per 6 pounds of body weight. Introduce the veggies slowly or he will get diarrhea.
What type of hay and pellets are you feeding him? This website has a lot of great information http://www.rabbitsonline.net/
