I am looking into buying a horse, I take lessons & have had riding experience for awhile. Buut-i know very little about horse. I just know the basics of grooming, feet care, riding, tack, feeding, & competions. What are all the things i need to know before I buy & start to take care of my horse?
Do you own a piece of land? Stables? The first thing you should do is own everything you need to properly take care of a horse! Equipment is expensive and it's no good getting the cheap stuff that you'll only have to replace.
My advice is if you do have the land, offer free agistment with the condition that they allow you to help care for and learn from the horse and them, that way it is not entirely you're responsibility but you still learn. Make sure they own a quiet horse, preferable over 10 years.
Good luck!
