I received a ten gallon glass aquarium as a gift, and I'd like to put something in it, but I'm leaning away from fish. Are there any other pets to whom a glass tank can be a suitable home?
you could have 3-4 small hermit crabs ....

A single hamster or a pair of mice can do well in the tank if its cleaned often. Enclosed glass tanks aren't always best for rodents, since there is poor ventilation .. But it can do okay if its cleaned very regulary.
I suggest looking up care info on any and all animals you may consider.
I don't think theres any reptiles that can be kept in a 10 gallon, due to the fact its hard to keep at a good even temperature.
And really, there are few fish that can be kept in a 10 gallon tank .. But since you aren't really interested in fish .. Its not a big deal.
There are a few small reptiles that could be OK in a 10 gallon, such as a Leopard Gecko, or a couple of Anoles. There are also some insects that could be kept in a tank that size, such as a Tarantula or some Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches. Other than that, fish are your other option . Mammals should NEVER be housed in a glass tank, even if cleaned often.
A couple of anoles, a hamster, a mouse, garter or hognosed snakes, or a small house gecko. Do some research on their care, that will help you decide.
If you want something more exotic, you could make a small vivarium with one or two dart frogs in it.
