ive got a research project comming up and my topic is "animal communication"
but my dad said that including all the animals is too general so i should a exact animal.
What should i do? - Is there any animal that would be interesting?
thanx it will help heaps!
The most commonly used animals for basic research include mice, rats, guinea pigs, and rabbits. I would suggest that when you're trying to make communication with an animal, especially one that's easy to handle , I would say get something larger so you can interact a little bit more. I'm not saying that mice or rats aren't smart, but that guinea pigs and rabbits are simply larger and easier to handle.
I would use a guinea pig, because I've had heaps in my life and found them to be smarter than most people would suspect. They respond to a lot of external triggers like the fridge opening (with fresh veggies coming) or drumming your fingers along the cage bars as a sign that something good is coming. They can vocalize with peeps and squeaks that makes it much easier to know when they're communicating, and if you get two you can find they will communicate with one another when exciting things happen. Using guinea pigs will make your project the easiest to analyze.

Your father sounds like a smart scientist, now go convince him guinea pigs are the way to go!
As the topic is animal communication i highly suggest a bearded dragon due to their personality being like dogs and there ability to bond with humans unlike any other reptile.
