my rabbit has a serious abscess on the side of her face. we are booked in to the vets to have it drained on tuesday. she also may have to have her eye removed as it looks like she has a tumor behind her eye as well. . and she is only 2!! but for the last two days she has not eaten or drank a thing! all she has eaten is her medication for the day .. im really worried as she is getting very tired and lethargic which i assume is due to lack of food and maybe dehydration? please help!! thankyouuu xxx
I'd phone the vets and get her in now. She needs at the very least SubQ or IV fluids administered and to be put on a syringe diet to keep her hydrated and her gut moving. A dehydrated animal whose digestion is shutting down will not be a good candidate to be placed under anesthesia for a surgery. You'll need to work with the vet to get her stabilized first.
Her abscess is likely very painful for her and eating when your face is in pain is horrendously painful, that is why she won't eat or drink. You can't force her to eat, I strongly suggest calling your vet and getting an emergency appointment - they will understand and hopefully get her in much earlier than tuesday. I hope she gets the treatment she needs so she can eat again, Good luck.
She is at a severe risk of gut stasis and dehydration if she is not eating
