My two chinchilla's have recently had a little baby. She is now 6 days old. I was wondering when could she have her first sand bath? As Im worried her fur is becoming greasy

Chinchillas pick up the habit of having a sand bath of the mother, but mum can''t have a sand bath for a week or so after the birth because the tiny sand grains will block her teats, and then then kit cannot feed.
I'm not sure when a chinchilla kit moves onto solid foods, but you can always email Barbara at www.cheekychinchillas.com she's a lovely lady and will prob have a more detailed answer for you. You can even try some chinchilla forums, there are plenty about when you look.=)
