i think the better question is .... if you are low on $ right now, why would you consider getting 2 new pets?
The primary thing I would worry about is that first vet visit. Ferrets are considered 'exotic' animals and you'll pay 'exotic' animal rates when you are at the vet. If you buy a pet from a pet store, it should already be altered and should have the first round of shots, but they still need to go to the vet within the first month you get them. expect to pay at LEAST $ 120 PER FERRET for that first trip to the vet.
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com ferrets can make a toy out of just about anything! they'd love an old t shirt inside of a shoe box. my ferret could be entertained for hours if you put her toy inside a plastic bag, inside a shoebox that's wrapped up in an old sweater. she'll dig, burrow and play trying to get her toy out for hours! here are some things ferrets love:
-Old t-shirts
-A pile of plastic grocery bags
-A box of beans that they can dig in
-Your socks!
-Cardboard boxes
-Dryer vent tunnels (obviously unused)
a ferret's diet is very important to their future health. NEVER, EVER, EVER give a ferret anything that contains sugar, EVER! you'll also need a high quality food like EVO, Zupreem or raw meat with bones in order to stay healthy throughout their entire life. those cheap, inferior foods like Marshall's ferret food contains too many carbs (which get converted to sugar in the body) and by-products instead of real meat and they end up hurting your ferret down the line.
truthfully , anytime i buy my babies any kinds of toys ... they don't play with them. but they do however enjoy playing in laundry baskets, playing in plastic bags, sometimes i throw old bed sheets down, cause they love to tunnel underneath them, and i buy cheap 1 $ dog toys that sqeek-they absolutely love the sound, (if i cant find em ... i grab the sqeeky toy and the come running) one thing that i did buy though ... that they absolutely love their tunnel. its a 20 ft long clear plastic tunnel that you can get off ferretdepot.com or ferret.com ... its 20 $ but its totally worth it. its their favorite. maybe get that when u have the extra money . and as far as treats go, the do love peanut butter, my lil ones have their own jar of it.lol once in a while i give em a piece of my granola bar ... (prolly shouldn't though) ferrets aren 't real hard to entertain .. mine pretty much entertain themselves .....
