You cannot use certain flea meds on ferrets.
One that you can use is the Advantage for the smallest cat. NOT advantiX !!!!
Use only half of the tube that you would use on a small cat. In between the shoulder blades. Do not use anything else without checking with your vet. There are some flea preventatives that will kill a ferret!

You should definitely check with your vet, before doing anything.
For mine, the vet gave me cat Frontline. I split one between my girls, and my boy gets a whole (but I don't use it monthly. Instead, I use it when occasions warrant - if they go outside [rarely] or if we get a new animal [we recently found a stray kitten, so it was time for flea med.s]. I generally only use it once or twice a year.
But even if you need it more regularly, the med.s seem to work on ferrets longer and my vets told me to extend periods in between uses to two months.
Ask the vet. Flea meds are based on weight.
