Hey guys
Well my rabbit died in a vet today because he hadn't eaten for 2 or 3 days and dad not really wanting to bring him cause he thought it was expensive so we did today and we found out that he had a disease from mosquitos starts with C that was used to control rabbits in Australia but I can't spell it so yea .... anyway what breed would you recommend?
Definitely a Mini Lop !!!!! Sorry:) I am definitely prejudiced!
Mini Lops (also known as german lops, dwarf lops etc.) Are amazing!
They usually have great personalities, and are just the right size to hold!
Please do get your rabbit vaccinated, as you are in a region that has this disease.
Hope this helps!
None. If your parents are not willing to get prompt vet attention when a pet is ill, you need not to get another as it will only end the same way. Rabbits are delicate health-wise and need immediate vet care when they appear ill. There are two viruses that were released in Australia to control rabbits: rabbit haemorraghic disease virus (also called calcivirus) and myxomatosis, both which can be transmitted by insects. Both are highly contagious, so odds are a new rabbit would end up dead as well. Calcivirus can live in the environment for months.
I'm so sorry, my rabbit recently died too and I was devastated. Next time take your rabbit to the vet immediately if you notice he isn 't eating. This is something so many rabbit owners overlook, but the truth is that only a day without eating and pooping can be fatal to rabbits. And also maybe think about giving it a bit of time before finding a new rabbit, you need time to mourn for your bun.
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com I would go to a local shelter and see if you find a good bun there. There are lots of buns who need good homes. My personal favourite breed is a Dutch (that's what my boy was). They're so friendly and always have such big personalities.
you should get a total mutt rabbit as they usually hold out a lot longer then prize winner breeds because they are not inbred. My rabbit is very friendly and contented in it's out door hutch. It likes the outdoors esp . in the spring and fall. Anyway, try to get a sturdy rabbit and look for any sort of eye discharge or signs of illness or general poor health because these rabbits will likely not live long. Good luck with getting another rabbit (I also suggest that you don't buy from a large facility or pet store, backyard breeders actually tend to have the healthier, more social rabbits)
Thats sounds sad: (But he is in a better place now, think of it that way. He will be watching down over you.You should defiantly get a mini lop because they are small, playful and affectionate. They are also so cute:) You should give it some time before you get another.
Oh that sounds awful. .. I feel so sorry for you. I have a mini Rex rabbit. Very good pet. Comes in many colors. Their fur is really soft. They are short fur so u don't have to worry about it gettin tangled. I don 't think there are any specific health problems .... They weigh about 4-6 pounds. I think mine weighs 8 though. She is a fat bunny. I think life expectancy is 6-10 years. So yeah, really good pet .
