The injury happened a month ago. We thought she bowed it but after an ultrasound the vet concluded that it was not bowed. Been treating it every day, cold-hosing and wrapping. She was kept on stall rest for about a week and a half and is now going on in a small area by herself with a polo wrap on the injured leg (right front). Recovery has been slow with lots of setbacks. I started sweating it at one point but it rubbed so I stopped. Didn't think much of it because she's a sensitive grey. Today the skin came off completely. The whole tendon is bare, pink and raw. I don't know what to do. We stopped wrapping it for now to let it breath. I'm stumped worried and frustrated. Advice on any or all aspects of the problem would be appreciated.
Vet Girl is correct in that the vet needs to see it again.
The rubs have come from incorrect bandaging. You should have some good padding under the bandages in the form of gamgee (cotton wool covered with a gauze, not sure what it is called in the USA) This needs to be at least two thickness before the bandage is put in and they need to be tight enough not to slip but not so tight as to slow or even stop the circulation, which I think you may have done.
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com As said earlier, you need to get the vet back out to see what further damage has been done.
This is very much a question for your vet, not people who can bullshit their way through answers to get a few internet points for a 'best answer'.
Good luck
