My guinea pig is pushing almost 6.5 years old. I got her at Petco and she was really sick and I nursed her back to health. She has always been very lively ever since, running around her cage and "bweeping" when I enter the room to say "where's mah treetz!" She has always been a hefty pig which never really concerned me because she was happy and running around.
For the past month she's been losing weight, and fur, and seems to be laying on her side more, but still taking treats. But this morning, she refused treats and that is not at all Peanut. She looked like she had been sweating under her mouth (and piggies shouldn't sweat) and I think she may have diarrhea. She has lost soo much weight and usually when someone she doesn't like/know puts their hand in the cage she runs into her igloo but she just, stands there.
I don't want my piggie to die: (
She is very old, and when animals lose weight and start becoming lazy and eating less, it usually means there is definitely something wrong with them. Take her to the vet, he will be able to tell you exactly whats wrong with Peanut, and maybe give her some medicine to prolong her life and ease the pain for a while. But being as old as she is, I'd say she's probably not going to be around for a lot longer .. but there's always the chance she has a little virus that will go away:) I hope it's not too bad, good luck.
The expected life span of a guinea pig is 5-7 years, though many guinea pigs live beyond that. Peanut has become old and also slowing down. Give her more love.

Take her to a exotic vet who specializes in guinea pigs. Getting diarrhea and refusing to eat at the same time sounds trouble. The sweat under her mouth could be the leftover water from her bottle after drinking.
Good wishes and prayers for you and Peanut ..
I am so sorry that this is happening. I know how hard it is. I have lost 7 ferrets this year alone. Sometimes when we love our pets we have to make hard decisions for them. I sounds like she may be suffering. Yo find out she needs a vet visit. If she is suffering then you want to make her comfortable if possible. If not then you may have to put her down so that she is no longer suffering. I know that is a hard thing to think about. The time comes in every pets life. Even though we know it has to be, that does not make it any easier. We do it because we love them enough to not let them continue to suffer and I know that they have had a good life. I hope it is something simple and easily fixed. If not, I know she knows you love her andtrusts you to make a good choice for her. and eventually after the initial shock of losing our pet, we try to remember all the fun we had with them.
